The Langham Boston Hotel Review
The Langham Hotel located in Boston’s financial district was on my list to experience for quite some time due to its charming, luxurious, and pristine reputation. As a luxury hotel lover, I feel it’s crucial to stay at a place like this, at least once and especially in Boston, where history, culture, comfort, and luxury are immersed.
The Langham Hotels & Resorts offer luxury experiences in prime destinations in the United States and around the world, reflecting the values of Sincere Service, Innovation, Captivation of the Senses, and Exceptional Design, which originated from London back in 1865. In fact, The Langham London was known as one of Europe’s first “grand hotels”. And was named after Sir James Langham, whose mansion was the original center of London. The Langham has always represented innovative hospitality and a sense of high-end luxury without feeling “stuffy” or overly traditional. With hotels located in Asia, Europe, The Middle East, Pacific & North America, guests have been able to experience these magical hotels to celebrate life’s special moments or just the everyday!
Experiencing The Langham Hotel in the heart of Boston was an awesome time because we got to celebrate my boyfriend’s 30th birthday in style while also being able to explore the local area within walking distance. Events and celebrations are a core aspect of The Langham Hotels and make for an ideal place to be for whatever you’re celebrating. The historic hotel was closed for 2 years for a multi-million dollar renovation. And just reopened to guests at the beginning of July 2021. The results are simply fabulous and must be experienced by all hotel & luxury lovers. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience offering classic American warmth and comfort combined with European hospitality.
The Langham Boston Hotel Review
Located in the financial district, (One Post Office Square) at 250 Franklin St, Boston, The Langham Hotel is known as one of the most historic buildings in downtown Boston. It has a rich history of being built as the original Federal Reserve Bank of Boston in the early 1900s, inspiring several decor elements in the hotel today.
The Langham, Boston is said to “celebrate its landmark heritage, while re-imagining service and tradition through a genuine, unpretentious and distinctly modern lens.” This couldn’t be more true. What I love most about this hotel is its laid-back luxury feel with staff and guests that are as kind as ever. You immediately feel like you belong here. And are welcomed in several ways throughout your stay.
The hotel lobby specifically, is one of my favorite features of the hotel. And will be the first thing you see when you walk in, after being greeted by the kind gentlemen at the door. It’s the most elegant and pristine atmosphere with high-end lounge chairs and furniture, a gas fireplace, stunning chandeliers, a touch of pink with fresh rose arrangements, and this amazing scent that you’ll smell every time you enter the lobby. Crisp and clean is the best way to describe it.
Langham Boston Hotel Rooms
One of the most important parts of any hotel stay – the rooms. The Langham Boston comes equipped with 312 residentially-styled guest rooms and suites that capture the new American classic charm combined with innovative amenities. Many of the rooms offer views of the Boston skyline as well as Norman B. Leventhal Park. Rooms you have available to you include the Superior Room, Deluxe Room, Premier Room, Family Room, Executive Room, Executive Suite, Loft Suite, One Bedroom Suite, Two Bedroom Suite and the Chairman Suite.
These lavish rooms and suites reflect the luxurious attributes of The Langham brand perfectly and make for a truly comfortable experience.
Each room includes classic touches and deluxe amenities for a timeless, fresh and residential feel. All the guest rooms and suites have been updated with spacious bathrooms, walk-in showers, white marble floors, countertops and a lighter and brighter color palette to encompass the traditional New England aesthetic.
All ADA rooms come with easy to open tap keycard door locks, mid-level height for room thermostat and switches, lever-handle doorknob for room door, extra maneuvering room around bed, roll in showers (for most rooms), a separate movable shower bench, grab bars in restroom, a raised toilet as well as a lower top shelf and hanging area in closet. You can find out more about the accessible facilities of the hotel here.
We stayed in a Deluxe Room on the 8th floor where we had access to all the modern amenities including a spacious lounge area and desk, large king bed, beautifully arranged marble bathroom, large closet with iron and cozy robes. We loved the details, the classic yet modern feel of the room and had so much fun getting ready, watching the Olympics on the flat screen TV and enjoying each other’s company. These rooms are truly sensational and will leave you wanting more!
Langham Boston Hotel Events
As a 5-year event planner myself, this is one of the most exciting aspects of the hotel. The fact that it caters to events so well. The Langham Hotels & Resorts thrive off the saying “celebrate the everyday” to encourage you to celebrate life’s moments, no matter what that means to you. The Langham Boston has eleven unique venues with over 13,000 square feet in space. Between the venue choices, flawless services, a dedicated event management expert, professional in-house audio-visual team, and innovative culinary cuisine, you won’t have to worry about a thing. The Langham handles the details so you can celebrate your events in the best way possible.
While there are endless things to celebrate at the Langham, they specialize in 3 main categories as shared below.
Meetings
As a luxury hotel specializing in events, it’s no coincidence why businesses are interested in hosting meetings at the Langham. When I worked for a corporate offsite venue in Manhattan, NY I quickly learned how crucial it was for companies to step out of their normal environment to collaborate and inspire new ways of thinking for business. Meeting spaces like this actually help accomplish that! With private boardrooms, two new luxurious ballrooms and a plethora of meeting rooms, there’s a dedicated space for any type of meeting you’re looking to host.
The Langham Boston offers state-of-the-art technology and a team of experts to help organize your event and make sure all your needs are met and exceeded. They even have a dedicated platform created by the Langham Hospitality Group called “takethelead” to help make every event organization easier. The platform allows you cover the planning, logistics, venue, facilities, dining and entertainment options if needed.
The Langham Boston also offers a rewards programme through takethelead. Members of takethelead can earn rewards for their meetings or events at participating properties. These rewards include earning miles to any of their selected frequent flyer/ travel and lifestyle programs as well as hotel rewards including accommodation, food and beverage.
Weddings
I can’t think of a more beautiful and elegant place to host a wedding in Boston, other than The Langham Hotel. It’s simply the perfect place for it. The two gorgeous ballrooms have natural light, classic neutral tones, contemporary touches, elegant chandeliers and so much historic flavor. Whether your wedding is small and intimate or large and busy, they have the capabilities to arrange your absolute dream wedding.
Social Events
Aside from meetings and weddings, The Langham also caters to the everyday celebration whether that includes a baby shower, rehearsal dinner, anniversary, or simply just celebrating life! There’s amazing packages and deals to help you celebrate the right way.
For our stay at The Langham Boston, we celebrated my boyfriend’s 30th birthday. And couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The staff wished him a happy birthday when we interacted with them and our room was decorated with balloons, a delicious cake, bottle of champagne and a personalized note. They went above and beyond, making every interaction and gesture so thoughtful. We have never been shown this kind of hospitality at other hotels. So it certainly has made a lasting impression.
Langham Boston Hotel Wellness Amenities
If you’re anything like me, then you value wellness initiatives and opportunities at the hotels you stay at. While there are still renovations going on for the wellness activities at The Langham Boston, the finished product will be incredible. Currently, the hotel is working on a redesigned state-of-the-art fitness center, a heated indoor pool, a whirlpool and relaxing saunas. The fitness center will come equipped with Technogym cardio, Peloton bikes and strength equipment to help you get in a good workout during your stay. While these amenities are set to be opened at a later date there are alternative options for a gym and pool for you to use, just ask the front desk!
Langham Boston Hotel Restaurants
The Fed Hotel Lobby Bar
If you love hotel bars, then you’re going to love The Fed because it is THE hotel bar to go to. The Fed is a British-inspired cocktail pub with a New England twist located to the left as soon as you walk into the lobby of The Langham Hotel and encompasses all the elements that are admirable about hotel lobby bars. Class, stunning decor, art pieces, marble tops, comfortable bar-chairs, mood-lighting and of course, fabulous cocktails.
This luxury hotel bar includes proprietary offerings from Bully Boy Gin (the Celebrations Gin, available only at The Langham), Cambridge Brewing Company and Knob Creek Bourbon. They offer delicious bar snacks, including Chef Stephen Bukoff’s Glizzy Sticks (a combo of American-style and Korean corn dogs), create-your-own seafood tower and a Bag of Whoopie Pies for dessert. Signature cocktails from Paige McGroarty, formerly of Yvonne’s, who created the drinks menu for The Fed, includes “I’m Sipping Up to Boston” featuring The Langham Single Barrel Bourbon, Coffee-Infused Amaro and Sweet Vermouth with Orange Bitters; and “Kool and The Gang” featuring The Langham’s Celebration Gin, raspberry, lime, ginger, Aquafaba and tonic. In addition, The Fed also carries a secret menu called “The Vault” which is a private collection of 12 unique and hard-to-find spirits, including Rabbit Hole Founders Collection Mizunara and The Macallan M.
I personally loved every single cocktail I tried, with the exception of the Apri-caught in The Middle, because it was Mezcal-based and just too strong for me! I know many others that love it though. All the other cocktails I tried like “Spice up Your Life” and “Pulling Strings” were absolutely fabulous. Between the atmosphere, kind staff and delicious drinks and snacks, it’s an awesome time.
Grana
GRANA is The Langham Boston’s former Federal Reserve Bank’s grand hall that has been turned into the new classic restaurant, with Italian family-style meals where glamour meets worn-in authenticity. GRANA’s original soaring ceilings, ornate moldings and fixtures, lush velvet furniture and world-class art collection make it the most perfect setting for an approachable and shareable menu of authentic Italian dishes. The restaurant will be open from 6:30am- 2:30pm for breakfast, brunch and lunch.
It officially opens on September 1, 2021 and reservations for GRANA can be made here.

My Langham Boston Hotel Experience
As an avid hotel-traveler, I have to say The Langham Boston is one of my favorite hotels I’ve stayed at to date. It has every single element that makes hotels so wonderful including good views, pristine customer service and hospitality, cleanliness, luxury, comfort and fun. We had the best combination of activities during our 2-night stay and it made for the most pleasant experience. Being that we were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday, we felt as though we were treated like royalty between the kind gestures, birthday wishes, personal card, cake, champagne and overall hospitality throughout our entire stay. Every interaction with both the staff and guests were pleasant and memorable.
The Fed is one of my favorite parts about the hotel and believe it’s a special and unique feature as I haven’t been in such a nice hotel bar as this. I really love experiencing hotel bars, getting to know the bartenders and having good conversations over drinks and The Fed made that all possible! I’m also really excited for the wellness features and the new Italian restaurant GRANA. And am looking forward to experiencing them when they become available.
Overall, we had an exceptionally pleasant and comfortable stay and would suggest this hotel to anyone looking for a luxury city experience, romantic getaway, group meeting or special event as you really cannot go wrong with The Langham Hotel.
