Royal hideaway playacar Review
Out of all the hotels I’ve explored around the world, this is hands-down the nicest one I’ve personally been to. Royal Hideaway Playacar is a 5-star, exclusive, all-inclusive, adults-only luxury resort catering to those looking for a peaceful, quiet and relaxing vacation. Located right on the white sand beaches of Riviera Maya, it’s truly the perfect location to experience Mexico in luxury. You have everything you need right here.
The reason why I’m defining this as the best hotel I’ve been to is because of the all-encompassing factors. There is not one bad thing to say about this resort. From the views, the amenities, the pools, the beach, the service and the food, it was all amazing and extremely impressive. I would go back in a heart-beat. In addition, this resort is particularly great for romantic getaways, honeymoons and retirement celebrations.

The Royal Hideaway Playacar is an adults-only hotel, located on the white sands of an idyllic beach on the Riviera Maya and offers an exclusive all-inclusive, adults-only experience very close to key points of interest in Playa del Carmen. They have 201 luxury rooms surrounded by lush gardens and amazing views. In addition, there are 6 on-site restaurants serving international cuisine with à la carte options. Some of the luxurious facilities include 6 pools, a spa and a fitness center. There’s also an immense variety of options for outside activities in the area including adventure and water sports.

Average cost is $273 per night. An amazing price for such a luxury resort as this.
Vibe Check
Simply stunning. One of the most quaint and architecturally interesting places I’ve been, where I felt at home right away. You’ll mostly find couples here but there are a mix of friends and family traveling together as well. It’s very quiet but really fun at the same time as the guests are inviting and friendly, which gives it a community-like atmosphere. The staff is also exceptional and very happy to be there. Which makes for an overall great experience, no matter where you are on property.
Comfort Level
On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best), the comfort level is at a 5. The beds were large and comfortable, the temperature in the room was also perfect. The layout of the space was ideal and the pool are was never over-crowded.
Views to expect on Property
Amazing views can be found everywhere you go. Whether you’re walking along the palm tree paths, gazing as lush greens from your balcony or watching the ocean waves roll in at dinner or on the beach. There’s always something beautiful to see.
Dining
For an all-inclusive resort, I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of food as it was some of the best I’ve had. Every single restaurant had a variety of options with the most delicious flavoring. So you’re truly spoiled here with all the several course meals, including dessert and wine! Please note it is required to make dinner reservations throughout your entire stay.
Azia Avant Thai – A delicious restaurant offering traditional Thai cuisine. This restaurant prides themselves in having the highest quality raw materials and using respectful techniques. Transporting guests to the beaches of Koh Samui and the exotic Jungles of Chiang Mai, just by their taste buds.
Chef’s Table – Prepare yourself for an epic 9-course gourmet meal paired with wine and unique ingredients. The dress code is formal.
The Deck – One of the most fun and refreshing places to grab food by the pool. They offer cocktails, traditional snacks, burgers and fresh local seafood.
The Grill – An extremely romantic outdoor setting with candles and stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. This restaurant offers a broad array of fresh seafood, Angus Prime Steak, lamb and other barbecue cuts.
Palazzo – Your go-to spot for Italian cuisine prepared with fresh ingredients, traditional recipes and homemade pasta. An elegant and charming setting with a formal dress code as well.
Spices – A Mexican-inspired restaurant offering dishes with local ingredients, Mexican gastronomy and stunning views of the ocean.
Ventanas – A gourmet restaurant offering traditional cooking of Southern Spain. Dress code is formal.
Best Instagram Spots
The best places for taking pictures includes in the main lobby building, the steps leading outside toward the pools and beach, the mini bridges that cross throughout the property, the pool area and also the private balcony.

Local Culture
Of course Playa Del Carmen is known for its grand resorts, tourist activities and beach parties. But it also holds a strong culture downtown, off the beaten path. In fact, there’s several local restaurants, shops and music scenes to explore with proud and talented locals. The bustling downtown area also makes for a truly special and authentic experience if you want a break from the resort.
Best Season to visit
The best season to visit is between April and October as there are less people around and the weather is most ideal. The temperatures are also between 70-80 degrees. Which feels a lot hotter than other parts of the world.
