Delamar Hotel in West Hartford
If you’re looking for a pristine, relaxing and charming getaway, Delamar Hotel in West Hartford is your answer. This beautiful and distinct landmark adds class, sophistication and adventure to your trip, all at once. West Hartford is located in Hartford County, Connecticut and is 5 miles west of downtown Hartford. Delamar is unique from all the other hotels in the area, in my opinion, because it offers the most well-rounded package from location, luxury, amenities and experience. I didn’t know what to expect when visiting West Hartford for the first time. And both the town and hotel surpassed my expectations. I would go back in a heartbeat and already hope to get there in the fall!
West Hartford Center aka “the Center” has been the community’s main hub since the late 17th century. There are plenty historic sites to visit in the area including cemeteries, mansions, theaters, venues, churches and beautiful architecture. There’s a ton of popular places to visit like The Mark Twain House & Museum, Harriet Beecher Stowe Center, Elizabeth Park Conservancy & Garden, The Children’s Museum, West Hartford Reservoir and more. Aside form its historic attractions, West Hartford’s main points of interest are the wonderful restaurants and shops you have access to, just a few steps away from Delamar Hotel.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
The best time to visit West Hartford is between May and July for the most ideal temperatures. But every season has something beautiful to offer. Technically peak season is June to August for tourism, so that will be something to consider for your trip. I was there at the end of June and it was extremely hot during my stay. If you do plan to come during the summer, I highly suggest packing light clothes like loose shirts, tank tops and dresses. For fall and winter you can expect it to be quite windy, rainy or snowy several days out of the week. Tourism is definitely the slowest during these months. So you’ll most likely find awesome prices for hotels. I personally think it would be a great time to visit as well since there are plenty of cozy things to do both at Delamar West Hartford and downtown.
There are actually several other Delamar Hotels in Connecticut including Greenwich Harbor, Southport & Traverse City. These luxury Connecticut hotels make for a truly magical experience in one of New England’s charming states.

Delamar West Hartford is located at 1 Memorial Rd, West Hartford, CT 06107 and is in close proximity to the downtown area where you’ll have access to the shops and restaurants within seconds. The closest airport is Hartford-Brainard Airport which is 8.5 miles away well as Amtrak Hartford Union Station which is 4.4 miles away. Depending on your travel preference, you’ll be at the hotel within 15 minutes or less whether you fly or take the train.
Once you arrive at Delamar Hotel, you’ll be greeted by a superb team of valet parkers and bellhop. Immediately upon arrival, you’re treated with care and kindness that will last the entire time you’re there. This 114-room hotel will be a delightful treat starting in the lobby where you’ll be offered a complimentary glass of champagne while you check in. Other complimentary amenities you have to look forward to include a full-breakfast buffet in the Tavern of Artisan Restaurant, valet parking, twice daily housekeeping including turndown service, Bvlgari bath amenities, hotel courtesy car within a 5-mile radius, electric vehicle charging stations, high-speed internet and a fitness center with Peloton bikes.

The Spa
Something that I’ve made a point to take advantage of more is the spa at hotels. To be honest, I’m not much of a “pampering” type of gal, as I just don’t enjoy sitting around for that long. But the experience at a hotel spa is on another level. The level of service, comfort and quality you get is better than most places. And I love seeing what services they offer and the amazing products they use that make you feel like royalty.
At Delamar Spa West Hartford, you have the option to choose from a plethora of options including facial treatments, message therapies, enhancements and nail services. The spa is located on the second floor and offers a relaxing and tranquil atmosphere upon arrival. The staff is incredibly kind, accommodating and extremely intuitive of your needs. I had a pedicure treatment done and thoroughly enjoyed my experience because my preferences were accounted for. Like I said, I don’t love being pampered. So it meant a lot to have a say in what I liked and didn’t like. It was also extremely exclusive and quiet. So I felt like I was able to unwind, relax and enjoy without the conversations of too many people being around.
I highly recommend booking your spa experience ahead of your visit to the hotel as appointments fill up quickly!
Private Meeting & Event Spaces
With my corporate events background, I couldn’t help but geek out over the event spaces at the hotel. Delamar Hotel is definitely an ideal space to host special occasions like weddings, celebrations, corporate meetings and retreats. Event spaces you have access to include the Executive Boardroom, Meeting Rooms North & South, Mystic Ballroom, as well as a large outdoor space for ceremonies and team-building activities. Each space is equipped with enough space for groups of 10 all the way to 400 guests with elegant tables and chairs, chandeliers, ample natural light and catering provided by Artisan Restaurant that can totally be customized.
Dining
As for dining options, you certainly won’t be disappointed. The on-site restaurant, Artisan, is located on the ground floor of the hotel and offers indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant combines local and seasonal flavors through New-England inspired cuisine with a European flair. (Two of my favorite places on earth, how ironic.) Artisan also caters the complimentary breakfast buffet with a delicious spread of eggs, bacon, sausage, sweets, yogurt, fruit and fresh squeezed orange juice and grape juice. If you’re looking to enjoy a meal in the comfort of your hotel room, you’re absolutely welcome to do that as Artisan provides room service.
My suggestion is to experience a proper dinner at Artisan on the outdoor patio for one night during your stay. I feel it makes for a well-rounded experience at the hotel and will be one of the most memorable parts of the trip. The menu is exceptional but my recommendations include the Farmstead Cheese Board, Tuna Crudo, Stonington Jumbo Scallops, Campanelle Primavera & Ramp Pesto as well as a bottle of champagne. Absolutely delicious.
Shop, Wine & Dine Package
During my stay at Delamar West Hartford, I experienced the wonderful Shop, Wine & Dine Package. This allowed me to experience the hotel, dining, local shops and winery in such an authentic way that made for a better trip, overall. I feel like I really got to understand the culture and all there is to do and experience in West Hartford for such a short trip.
The package includes overnight accommodations for 2, two regular manicures at Delamar Spa, an in-room bottle of Chardonnay Oak from Gouveia Vineyards, two complimentary wine tastings at Gouveia Vineyards (30 minutes away), a $25 dining credit at Artisan Restaurant as well as an exclusive discount toward purchases from the local retailers including Delamar Spa Treatments, Connecticut Custom Clothing, Kimberly Boutique, Daswani Clothiers, J Mclaughlin, Ten Thousand Villages, Fleet Feet, Bridgewater Chocolate and Cookshop.
My Honest Review Of Delamar Hotel In West Hartford
My visit to Delamar Hotel West Hartford was an absolute memorable and enjoyable experience. From the moment I got there until the moment I left, I was taken care of, comfortable, and content with all levels and service both at the hotel and the downtown area. What I liked best about the hotel was the luxury room, the Delamar-branded charcoal-robes, the upscale bathroom and amenities and the Juliet balcony that overlooked the stunning property. I loved the in-room cheese plate and bottle of wine to kick off an exciting 2 days at the hotel, I loved the lobby and cheery staff that offered me water anytime I was down there as well as the overall ambiance and atmosphere as you walk room to room.
Another awesome feature to this hotel is how close and convenient it is to get downtown to see all the shops and restaurants. A few steps outside the hotel, you’ll find yourself a series of streets with everything you’d need to have a fun time. Restaurants in the area that I enjoyed include Playa Bowls, World of Beer and Max’s Oyster Bar. There’s a ton of small businesses and shops as listed earlier. But my personal favorite memory was spending an hour in Barnes & Noble reading the magazines and browsing the new books and collectibles.
Overall, my visit was pleasant, comfortable and adventurous all at once. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an awesome small-town feel, a staycation or a large event gathering.
