The Lenox Hotel in Boston Review
Boston is one of the most unique and historical cities, beautiful in all seasons. There’s something special about every city. And what makes Boston so special is as historical as it is, it also boasts a distinct modern vibe. Between it’s European-like brick buildings, cobbled-stoned streets, massive sports culture, delicious seafood and of course it’s stunning luxury hotels, you’ll find plenty to do both day and night.
One of the best features of Boston is that it’s an extremely walkable city with ease of access to all the other neighborhoods. Whether you like to walk, bike or Uber, you’ll be able to get around smoothly. Staying at a hotel like The Lenox offers benefits of being able to walk to high-end boutiques, art galleries, cafes, cozy neighborhoods to explore, restaurants, bars and other attractions in the area. The Lenox Hotel is located at 61 Exeter Street in Back Bay and offers a unique luxury experience. It is one of my favorite hotels I’ve stayed at on Boston, among several others. The hotel is a great representation of Boston. Because it also has a ton of history but provides a modern upgrade; the best of both worlds!
I got to experience The Lenox Hotel during the holiday season and it was as magical as ever. I spent an entire day exploring Boston hotel lobbies, scoping out the holiday decor. And The Lenox definitely came out on top with jaw-dropping decor inside the lobby. They have dim lighting indoors to set a moody vibe with decorations of garland, white lights, sparkly ornaments, wreaths, ribbon and a stunning Christmas tree places perfectly next to their wood-burning fireplace. Whether you decide to stay at The Lenox Hotel or stop by to check out the decor in December, it’s definitely worth it.
The Lenox Hotel in Boston Review
The Lenox Hotel is a boutique luxury hotel offering a special experience in a prime downtown location in Boston. With a warm and welcoming staff, plenty to do at the hotel and surrounding area, it really is the perfect place for a getaway whether for business, with a friend or with a loved one. I always say that your experience at a hotel greatly relies on the integrity of the staff and sense of community. And The Lenox definitely encompasses that. There’s plenty of people onsite to greet you, assist you with your bags, direct you around the hotel, make suggestions or just spark up a conversation with.
The hotel is family-owned and was built by New York’s Waldorf-Astoria, Lucias Boomer, back in 1900 when the building was actually known as the tallest in Boston. Since then, it’s been hosting guests from all over the world looking for a comfortable experience in an exciting city.
Inside, the hotel is bustling with guests and was actually one of the only hotels in Boston to remain open throughout the pandemic. They have pristine safety precautions in place including mask-wearing in public places, hand-sanitizer stations and immaculate guest-rooms. The hotel has always been dedicated to providing first-rate services in addition to the elegance and luxury the hotel offers as a whole. They offer modern amenities, lounge areas, stunning architecture to admire and onsite restaurant and bar. As well as cozy wood-burning fireplaces.

The Lenox Hotel offers a plethora of dining choices at the hotel. All overseen by Executive Chef Sean MacAlpine, a Brooklyn native and long-time Massachusetts resident.
City Bar
Situated right when you walk into The Lenox Lobby is City Bar, a stunning, beautifully decorated lounge with bar seating and a lively atmosphere. It’s the best place to come to whether you’re staying at the hotel or want to check out a new hotel lobby bar in Boston. It’s also a great location to host meetings and events like cocktail gatherings, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, retirements, etc. The bar can fit up to 65 guests and features a delicious menu for dinner and drinks.
You can find hearty appetizers like citrus packed shrimp, salt cod arancini, soft pretzels, oysters, margarita flatbreads and more. In addition, they also have flavorful salads and entrees like parmesan crusted cod, Faroe Island salmon. Prosciutto wrapped chicken, braised short ribs and more. As for drinks, they have a wide selections of classics, cocktails, wine, sparkling wine and beer. Some of the fun cocktails they have include an espresso martini, whiskey smash, city bar sangria. Cool hand cuke, pear martini, winter fizz and plenty more.
The City Bar is open daily from 4pm-2am.
City Table
City Table is very similar to City Bar in that if offers all the same things on the menu. Except it is setup more restaurant-style with tables and chairs. The atmosphere, lighting, decor and music are on point and the food is even better. The restaurant is also a great place to host your event. As it offers plenty of seating and arrangements. You can also book the private dining space in the restaurant for up to 32 people or the entire restaurant for up to 100 people.
We had such a great dinner experience here on a Thursday evening with plenty of people mingling and laughing throughout the restaurant. The waiter was kind and attentive as well as accommodating. I ordered the Princess Peach cocktail with champagne in it as well as the Cool Hand Cuke. I’m a huge champagne fan. So both cocktails were delicious and refreshing! For food, we ordered the melt-in-your-mouth tuna tartare, chopped salad with a beautiful presentation. Juicy braised short ribs, Faroe Island salmon and a plethora of dessert samples. Such a delicious and flavorful meal in a fun and lively atmosphere.
City Table is open for breakfast from 8am-11am, brunch from 8am-3pm and dinner from 430pm-10pm Sunday through Thursday. And 430pm-11pm on Friday and Saturday.
Solas
Solas is a modern Irish Pub tucked inside The Lenox Hotel serving pints of Guinness, high-quality pub fare, lunch and dinner. It’s also another great space to host an event for up to 70 guests. This would include the private bar and dining room where they can host breakfast meetings, brunches, business lunches, rehearsal dinners, bridal showers or corporate-social happy hour.
The menu offers a plethora of options between lunch, dinner, gluten free, late night eats, beer, wine, cocktails, kids meals, desserts as well as takeout. They have a wide selection of cocktails, wine and beer to give you that true pub-like experience. As for food, they serve tasty dishes like buffalo wings, beer cheese rarebit, loaded nachos, soups and salads. Fish and chips, shepherds pie, mango grilled salmon, chicken schnitzel, burgers and sandwiches and more.

My Lenox Hotel Review And Experience
Staying at The Lenox Hotel was even better than I expected. The hotel atmosphere, decor, layout, architecture, history and staff are all amazing and each room offers character and interesting stories. The fact that it’s in such a prime location makes it even more appealing. Especially for those out of town looking to experience a luxury hotel as well as the exciting city of Boston. The lobby is extremely quaint and elegant with an inviting staff and scent that fills up the hallways with freshness.
I love that the hotel offers “The Lenox Mercantile” offering goods to purchase from their local partners. This means you can actually take your hotel experience home with you or gift them to a loved one. As soon as I walked into the lobby, I noticed the incredible smell and soon found out that it’s all wrapped up into a candle to take home. Such an incredible experience, just from the lobby!
As you make your way around the hotel, you’ll notice all the architectural details of gold, detailed framings, fireplaces, chandeliers and decor.
It’s so stunning and you can’t help but take pictures of everything. The rooms are just as beautiful and cozy. I loved the spacious bathroom, roomy closet with a mini-fridge, luxury robes, iron and safe. The beds are lush and comfortable, the lounge area is a great-size and of course the in-room fireplace below the flat screen TV is the perfect touch. And the fact that more and more hotels are incorporating Google Chromecast so guests can watch their favorite shows at night is also a fabulous touch. I love hotels where I can truly make myself right at home. The views of Boston city buildings were also amazing to wake up to.
Starting my morning with a fresh stack of pancakes, crispy bacon, fresh fruit and a hot chocolate with whipped cream was priceless. I loved getting cozy by the fire, turning on a Christmas movie. And enjoying a slow, peaceful morning. The breakfast was also delicious! I typically go for more savory dishes but was feeling my sweet tooth this day and don’t regret it for a second. Sometimes you just have to treat yourself.
Overall, I had a great experience here and have no complaints.
As I mentioned, the hotel has been open throughout the pandemic. So they really have their safety and cleanliness practices down. I felt clean and comfortable during my entire stay. The only downside was having to wait a bit of time for services to the room. For instance, when I asked for the fireplace to be turned on or breakfast to be delivered to my room, it took longer than I expected. I think it’s important to keep in mind that during and even after the pandemic, hotel staff is still tight and doing a lot of things at once. Patience and understanding is definitely appreciated in the world of hospitality these days.
All in all, The Lenox Hotel is going in the books as one of my favorite Boston hotels and I can’t wait to go back!
