Mandarin Oriental, Boston Hotel Review
Ever since moving to Massachusetts, I’ve been fascinated with Boston. It’s one of those cities that never disappoints and does not run out of amazing activities and places to visit. Boston is home to delicious food, the famous Fenway Park, open spaces and greenery, first-class museums and welcoming locals. As one of the most historic cities in the United States, it attracts people from all over the country and the world to get a taste of this iconic place. Between the historic buildings, walking tours, food-scene, Boston sports, shopping, waterfront activities and ambiance, you’ll have an amazing time.
While there are so many ways to do a trip to Boston, pairing your experience with a 5-star hotel such as The Mandarin Oriental, Boston Hotel can make your trip luxurious, comfortable, and memorable. This luxury hotel located in Back Bay is discreetly paced on a busy city-street with so much to offer inside. I had been wanting to stay at this epic hotel ever since I stopped by during the Christmas season. And am glad I finally got to experience such a well-known and prestigious hotel.
Mandarin Oriental, Boston Hotel Review
There’s nothing quite like staying at a 5-star luxury hotel when you’re looking for a well-rounded and exquisite experience in such a historic city. Mandarin Oriental, Boston exudes an elegant minimalist vibe. And has become one of the crowd favorites in Boston. When you step inside, the ambiance is calm, relaxing, and inviting. The modern style incorporates chic Art Deco touches and a color scheme that is warm, yet exciting.
The Mandarin Oriental, Boston Hotel is different from other hotels in the area because it offers an array of amenities, accommodations, and convenience. Between the gorgeous rooms and suites, the pet-friendly accommodation, the ability to extend your stay, the new onsite fabulous restaurant by Gordon Ramsay, the spa & wellness as well as the shopping, you simply can’t run out of things to enjoy here. I especially loved being able to order some room service one slow morning when it was raining, in my comfortable robe. It’s little things like this that help you stay relaxed and feel refreshed. Especially when traveling and making plans to explore the city.
Rooms And Suites
The Rooms and Suites offer a modern and simplistic atmosphere with shades of beige, brown gold, blue and green, that just scream classic luxury. Between the chic decor, spacious rooms, natural lighting, views of Boston, luxury bathrooms, and amenities, you really have everything you need in these elegant rooms.
We stayed in a Deluxe Room offering views of the city and plenty of natural lighting. The velvet lounge, comfortable workspace, marble bathroom, and walk-in shower were especially enjoyable. There’s also a glorious bathtub in the bathroom. But since I am not much of a bath person, I didn’t indulge this time around. The walk-in shower, however, was awesome. And I look forward to the day I have one of these in my home!
For breakfast one morning I ordered a sweet and savory dish to get my morning started. Including iced coffee, a Classic American dish with two eggs, bacon, crispy hash cake, and whole-wheat toast. Plus a stack of lemon poppyseed pancakes to get my sweet fix in for the day. It was the perfect way to start my morning and left me feeling full and focused on the remote work tasks I had to do. The entire hotel is very accommodating whether you’re here to do nothing and relax or get some work done in peace. There’s plenty of casual workspace and WiFi to go around.

Fitness & Wellness is always a priority for me at hotels. I like being able to keep up with my active lifestyle on the go. And hotels that accommodate that get an A+ in my book. At Mandarin Oriental, Boston, you’ll find a variety of options to get your exercise. Whether at the state-of-the-art fitness center, in a pilates class, or outside for a jog on the many walking trails around Boston.
Ramsay's Kitchen
One of the highlights of Mandarin Oriental, Boston is its proximity to the new Ramsay’s Kitchen Restaurant. I’m a huge Gordon Ramsay fan and have probably seen every episode of Kitchen Nightmares. I was super excited to finally try this epic spot and it surely did not disappoint.
As a guest of the hotel, you have exclusive access and value-benefits with one of the hottest dining venues in Boston where you’ll have access to a wide array of unique culinary offers between seafood, farm-to-table selections, steak and great vegetarian options as well.
I’m not a vegetarian but am trying to make conscious decisions to eat less meat. So I went with the Chickpea Tikka Masala with saffron basmati rice, lemon yogurt, cilantro mint chutney and roti. I love Indian food and the dish was delicious but definitely not as spicy as a traditional tikka masala. But I would however order it again because of the delicious flavors. I finished the whole plate! My boyfriend went with the juicy RK Burger and fries with monterey jack cheese, butter lettuce, heirloom tomato, sriracha mayo and a toasted brioche. Yum!
As for drinks we went with the Boston’s Inferno with Maker’s Mark whisky, balcones brimstone smoked whisky, dark maple syrup and angostura bitters. As well as the 90 Degrees in the Shade with teremana blanco tequila, ancho reyes chile liqueur, pineapple and a tajin rim. They surely did not disappoint!
I would suggest getting a reservation ASAP if you plan to eat here during your stay at Mandarin Oriental, Boston as they tend to fill up quickly, even weeks in advance.
Mandarin Oriental, Boston Hotel Review
Overall, I had a pleasant experience at the Mandarin Oriental, Boston Hotel. When it comes to service, elegance, wellness offerings, and comfort, they do it well here. I would suggest this hotel to business travelers or anyone looking for a high-end celebration with a loved one. Something special that you do maybe once a year, as this is definitely one of the pricier hotels in Boston. I had expected there to be a bit more modern updates throughout the hotel like the lobby hallways and bathroom areas. But the main spaces like the immediate lobby when you walk in, wellness spa, rooms, and suites are gorgeous and intentional.
The main highlights of Mandarin Oriental Hotel definitely include the fitness & wellness elements, the onsite Gordon Ramsay restaurant, and the surrounding area. Back Bay is a great place to explore in the city. There’s so much to do and see here!
